Hustings of Local Prospective Candidates for election to D&G Council
Posted on : 27th March 2012

With support and assistance from my colleague Callum Chomczuk, Senior Policy and Parliamentary Officer with Age Scotland and a few local members of the former D&G Seniors Forum I am hosting an event in St George’s Church Hall on Monday, 16th April 2012.

We have a candidate from each of the main political groupings who will form a panel and answer questions put to them from the audience.

We envisage the question time to be around 1.5 hours with a 45 minute chat and coffee pre the question time session.

Our preferred target audience is people over 50 years, and would like questions from that age group on issues regarding this age group or common issues across the region which impact on them.

Although people may have specific localised issues within a given area (i.e. Georgetown) this may not be appropriate because we can only have one candidate from each of the political groupings on the panel and they may not be able to give a concise answer to a specific localised area.  ( I hope this makes sense!).

It would be useful to have questions in advance so that we can collate the questions and group them into categories (we will however, ask the person with the question to pose this to the panel and where appropriate add in additional information in the same category from other questions submitted).

We are able to assist with transport and if any group wishes to hire a minibus please let me know so that we can co-ordinate this from specific areas of the region.

Please get in touch with any questions and also please book in advance so that we can ensure there are enough seats and refreshments.
